Rafael Rodríguez-Rojas finished a Nuclear Physics degree in the Higher Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology, in Havana, Cuba. He obtained his master degree in Medical Physics at the University of Havana, performing his final thesis at the International Center for Neurological Restoration (CIREN). He worked as investigator at CIREN using multimodal neuroimaging to explore neurodegenerative diseases, brain injury, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. He participated in development of computer-based technologies for image guided neurosurgery for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor and dystonia. He was awarded Associated Researcher of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, in Trieste, Italy. After moving to Madrid, Dr Rodríguez-Rojas started a PhD scholarship under the supervision of Prof. Jose Obeso in the CEU San Pablo University. Rafael has a researcher position at the CINAC-University Hospital HM Puerta del Sur. This position allows him to combine functional, anatomical and metabolic imaging data to study the effect of incisionless transcranial focused ultrasound on brain networks, and to provide neuroimaging biomarkers for the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
